LOKI

Frigg

mysterious

old woman

Loki was the son of the giant Laufey. One day, his blood became mixed with Odin’s and the two became blood brothers. From this point on, Loki dwelt among the people of Ásgarðr.

Loki was jealous of Baldr and how adored he was by the gods. He wanted Baldr dead, but did not know how as nothing could harm him...

...or so he thought.

Loki went up to the top of the Tower of Ásgarðr to meet with Frigg. He shapeshifted into an old woman to gain her trust.

“Surely you did not get every created thing to swear never to harm Baldur. You must have gone far and wide!”

“Why how I did go far and wide! All things living and dead swore to me they would never bring Baldur harm."

"…except the Mistletoe. It was just so young. I don't know if it could speak back to me even if I asked it to."

And so Loki knew exactly where to look. He scowered the forests to look for the one thing that would grant him his wish for Baldr to die.

But Loki knew how loved Baldr was, and his death would bring Ásgarðr to its knees. He would surely be punished for carrying out such a heinous deed.

Maybe it is better that the mistletoe remain where it is hidden...
